Basketball Training Schedule

Players, coaches and fans alike demand professionalism from interscholastic sports officials. The Michigan Officials Association expects nothing different. The Michigan Officials Association expectation includes having a professional presence, attitude, and dress code. Michigan Officials Association (MOA) is committed to ensuring fair games at the highest level of sportsmanship. As a representative from the Michigan Official Association, you are the final authority on the basketball court; and as such, you must have the training and character to accept that responsibility.


A qualified representative from the Michigan Official Association organizes and conducts basketball training for interscholastic sports officials each year prior to the start of the interscholastic basketball season. The purpose of the training is to refresh current sports officials in rules and procedures of basketball. All trainers are MSHAA certified. Participation in these training and eduction classes freely offered by the Michigan Official Association will benefit any member interested in developing their skills as interscholastic basketball official.

Jack Murdoch
Jack is a four year member of the Michigan Official Association, and currently he is a MSHAA certified trainer in basketball for the Michigan Officials Association. In addition to working with the Michigan Officials Association, Jack is an basketball official for the Huron League and Michigan Mega Conference. The Huron League is a MHSAA athletic conference located in southern Michigan. The Michigan Mega Conference is a large athletic league predominantly located in southern Michigan and divided into four divisions. Jack faithfully attends the annual Tri-City Basketball Officials Camp, and highly recommends this or any camp as good way to improve officiating abilities.

Andy Sueta
Andy has been with the Michigan Officials Association and MSHAA for 15 years. Andy starting as a trainer for the Association 3 years ago with a person goal to help all official learn from each other by working together. In 2001, Andy was award the most improved referee award.
Blaine Wilding
Blaine Wilding has been a member of the Michigan Officials Association and MSHAA for 15 years. Blaine joined the association in 1991 after 10 years of officiating Little League baseball and T-ball. Blaine has a total of 25 years as an official. Blaine became a board member and baseball trainer for the Michigan Officials Association in 1998, Today, Blaine works to help new and current members with improving their skills as officials. Blaine was one of the officials at Red Wings vs Southgate Police Charity Baseball Game held in 200?.
Dave Liberacki
Dave has been a member of the Association and MSHAA for 7 years. Dave became a trainer in 2003 and a member of the board in 2004. Dave's goal as a trainer is to establish quality officials at all levels, and to help develop young officials by guiding them with constructive education, encouragement, and praise.
Kelly Hughes
I have been with MOA and the MHSAA since 2005. I love the sport of basketball and am happy to become a trainer for the association this year. I hope to teach as well as learn from other officials at every meeting and at every game. Eventually I would like to become an official for college and pro levels.
